Schooling and Licensing Requirements in Washington
There are some education and examination requirements to earn your massage therapy license in the state of Washington.
You will need to complete a minimum of 500 hours education at an approved school. These hours will cover the following areas:
- 265 hours – Massage therapy theory and practice
- 130 hours – Anatomy and physiology
- 55 hours – Clinical and business practices
- 50 hours – Pathology
You will also need to pass one of the national massage therapy exams. Such as the MBLEx, NCETM, or the NCETMB.
The requirements do change from time-to-time, so I would always check with the Washington State Department of Health or the school you’re training with before going ahead with an exam.
