Schooling and Licensing Requirements in Michigan
There are education and examination requirements to obtain a massage therapy license in the state of Michigan.
You will need to complete at least 500 hours of supervised education at an approved school. With the following coursework being covered:
- 200 hours – Massage bodywork, theory, and technique
- 125 hours – Kinesiology, anatomy, and physiology
- 40 hours – Pathology
- 6 hours – Business ethics
- 4 hours – Business and practice management
The remainder of the hours will be spent on various aspects of massage therapy. You will also have to carry out at least 40 hours providing massage services at a student clinic.
You will also need to pass one of the national massage therapy exams. Such as the MBLEx, NCETM, or the NCETMB.
