Schooling and Licensing Requirements in Kentucky
To become licensed in the state of Kentucky you need to fulfill some education and examination requirements as set out by the Kentucky Board of Licensure for Massage Therapy.
The minimum amount of education hours at an approved school is 600 hours. The hours cover the following topics:
- 200 hours – Massage and bodywork theory and technique
- 200 hours – Massage therapy business and ethics
- 125 hours – Anatomy and physiology
- 40 hours – Pathology
There are several options regarding passing an exam for your license. It’s always a good idea to check with the board for the latest information, but expect to need to pass the MBLEx, NBCA, or similar.
That’s the bulk of the process. Fulfill the required number of education hours and pass the exam.
There are some other parts of the process such as paperwork and background checks as you’ll see on their website.
