Schooling and Licensing Requirements in Maine
There are some education and examination requirements to obtain a massage therapy license in the state of Maine.
You need to complete at least 500 hours of education at an approved school. This covers the following topics:
- 120 hours – Anatomy, pathology, and physiology
- 100 hours – Hands-on supervised techniques and practice
- 280 hours – Coursework as determined by the Board
- First aid certification
You will also need to pass one of the national massage therapy exams. Such as the MBLEx, NCETM, or the NCETMB.
