Schooling and Licensing Requirements in North Carolina
There are some education and examination requirements to obtain a massage therapy license in the state of North Carolina.
You must complete a minimum of 500 hours education at an approved school. These hours will cover the following areas:
- 200 hours – Massage therapy theory and practice
- 150 hours – Coursework
- 100 hours – Anatomy and physiology
- 20 hours – Psychological concepts
- 15 hours – Business management
- 15 hours – Professional ethics
You will also have to pass a content exam and a jurisprudence exam (MBLEx). The MBLEx is a national exam administered by the Federation of State Massage Therapy Boards.
