The Five Essential Oils in Thieves Oil
As I mentioned above, Thieves is made from 5 different oils. These are:
Clove Bud Oil
Clove oil has a lovely sweet and spicy aroma. It’s probably most well known for its use in the dental industry to numb gums and reduce pain, but it has some other interested applications in aromatherapy.
Its antiseptic properties mean this oil is effective in easing coughs, colds, sore throats, sinusitis, and asthma, and similar conditions.
Citrus Lemon Oil
Citrus lemon oil is known for its powerful antioxidant properties. It’s great for cleaning, it’s refreshing, has a lovely scent when diffused around the home, and is one of the most versatile oils.
It’s also rich in antibacterial and antifungal properties. You may have seen it used as a weight loss aid in water, as cough relief, or to improve digestion.
Cinnamon Bark Oil
This is a personal favorite of mine, the smell warm and spicy aroma of cinnamon gets me every time.
Cinnamon essential oil helps you fight off viruses, increases circulation, strengthens the immune system and promotes a healthy cardiovascular system.
Eucalyptus Leaf Oil
I use eucalyptus essential oil to help with my sinusitis. I diffuse it overnight sometimes and it also works wonders keeping cold and cough symptoms at bay.
I’m sure you’ve used Olbas oil in the winter months if not eucalyptus. It’s great for respiratory issues, cleansing the air and removing odors, and can give you a natural energy boost.
Rosemary Leaf Oil
This herbaceous, sweet, fresh scented aroma is used to help fight fatigue, give you a mental lift, and help you be more alert.
It also has some uses for aiding digestion and relieving muscular aches and pains. The scent of rosemary really balances out Thieves.
