A hot compress Thai massage needs to be experienced to fully appreciate, understand, and enjoy the health benefits of this wonderfully therapeutic form of massage therapy.
And while we can’t all find an authentic Thai massage practitioner hear where we live, or even find a spa offering a Thai compress massage. It’s not too difficult to make the compress balls if you want to do it yourself.
Here are the basic ingredients and a tutorial on how to make a Thai herbal compress ball yourself just like the authentic ones you’d find in Thailand.
How to Make a Thai Herbal Compress Ball
There are three elements to making a compress ball. The ingredients (which I cover below), a sheet of muslin or cotton, and some string.
All of which are easily available. Even if you can’t find one of the ingredients you can leave it out or change it for another, the ingredients are fairly flexible.
Thai Herbal Compress Ingredients
The ingredients used in a traditional Thai compress ball are:
- Kaffir Lime
- Sea Salt
- Tamarind Leaves
But as I mentioned above, you can change these ingredients if you want to change the healing properties of your compress ball.
Wrapping the Compress Ball
Here is a video demonstrating how to twist and tie the cotton and string to make a nice, tight compress ball.
There you have it, now you know what ingredients you need and how to wrap them into a compress ball like the professionals do.
