Ionic foot detoxes have been on the rise in popularity for a few years now. These treatments are commonly found in holistic therapy centers, or you can just as easily use a foot bath at home.
There is some debate over how effective they are, but some people swear by how well and cleansed they feel after using one.
I always advise people to keep an open mind and try something for themselves before passing judgment.
But speculation aside, in this article I will cover everything you need to know about the benefits that ionic cleanse detox foot baths have to offer;
What Is an Ionic Detox Foot Bath?
You may have had a normal foot bath before. The feeling of warm water and bubbles is very enjoyable and relaxing.
Ionic foot baths are very different. They use electrolysis to charge positive and negative ions into the water.
It does this because the toxins in our bodies are also charged particles, and when combined with the opposite charge in the water they are drawn out of the body through the feet.
The water then neutralizes the toxins. As a result, you will see the water change color, different colors mean different things in relation to your health and where the toxins are coming from.
Ionic Cleanse Detox Foot Bath Benefits
Some of the health and wellness benefits associated with having a foot bath and reducing the amount of toxins in your body includes;
- Reducing inflammation
- Reducing aches and pains
- Detoxifying your liver and kidneys
- Strengthening your immune system
- Balancing your pH levels
- Improved energy levels
How Can I Expect to Feel after a Detox Foot Bath?
Firstly, I will point that that it doesn’t hurt at all. Although there is a charge being added to the water you will feel a tingling sensation at worst.
If you do feel pain for any reason you should speak to the therapist to try and find out why.
The more toxins you have the more discomfort you may feel. For me, it was like a numbness kind of feeling, along with the tingling sensation from the foot bath.
Most sessions will last around 30 minutes. Once you’re over the initial feeling you can just relax and treat it like a regular foot spa and read a book or do whatever you normally would.
Ionic Foot Bath Aftercare
As with any treatment that stimulates your body to release toxins, such as most forms of massage therapy, it’s important you drink plenty of water.
Fresh water helps you to keep hydrated, aid your body in flushing toxins from your body and will minimize the chance of headaches or feeling lightheaded.
Discuss the results from the foot bath with the therapist and they will advise how many sessions you need to cleanse most of the toxins from your body and have a healthy balance.
The important thing is that you take notice of how you feel afterwards. Hopefully, it will motivate you to live a little cleaner.
We can’t avoid most of the toxins that are all around us in the environment, but there is a lot we can do with our lifestyles such as diet and exercise.
