Contrast Shower Technique

The contrast shower technique is simple, only takes a few minutes, and the health benefits can’t be ignored.

I’ve covered some of the benefits in detail in this post. You can boost your immune system, help your body detox, stimulate better blood flow, and best of all look and feel great.

Why Take Contrast Showers?

There is a reason why most people have warm showers, it feels great, right?

If you’ve ever had to have a cold shower I bet you remember it. I used to absolutely hate it. Even if the water went cold for a few seconds because someone was using a tap somewhere else in the house.

I’d always heard of the pros and health benefits to cold showers but just couldn’t face it. Then I heard about contrast showers and how they are just as good for you and nowhere near as uncomfortable.

Contrast showers improve your circulation, help your lymphatic function flush more toxins, boost your immune system, and improve the look and feel of your skin and hair.

I switched to contrast showers about a year ago and I can’t speak highly enough about them. I’ve noticed the difference in how I feel, I have more energy, my skin feels great, and I’ve not had as many colds and annoying illnesses.

I’m always recommending people try them out. For the sake of just switching the water from hot to cold while you’re in the shower anyway, why not?

Contrast Shower Technique

It couldn’t be any easier to have a contrast shower. There is nothing complicated, and braving the cold water for a minute at a time is barely noticeable, honest!

This is what you need to do:

  • Shower in hot water for 3 minutes.
  • Turn the water to cold and shower for 1 minute.
  • Swap back to hot water for 3 minutes.
  • Change back to cold water for 1 minute.
  • Repeat this cycle 3-5 times.

As a side note, the temperatures you use are up to you. But the greater the contrast between the hot and cold water, the more effective you might find the results.
