I will say right off the top. Although commonly referred to as an essential oil, pineapple oil is more often than not a fragrance oil. Pineapple essential oil benefits aren’t therefore carrying the same health benefits as an essential oil. But there are still some amazing benefits and uses to pineapple fragrance oil as with most naturally produced ingredients.
The oil is a pale yellow color and has a subtle citrus scent. It’s probably most commonly used in perfumes and fragrances. You may not be fully aware of using or smelling it, as pineapple isn’t the first fruity scent people think of.
It actually has a very sweet scent. Not to dissimilar to how pineapple tastes, which I’m sure you are familiar with. The fragrances contain a combination of natural essence and some synthetic chemicals.
The pineapple essential oil and fragrance oils on sale differ in the volume of ingredients and natural or artificial additives. I’ve used a few before and will recommend the best of the bunch throughout this article.
Health Benefits of Pineapple
Let’s first take a look at the health benefits to actual pineapples. Pineapple is often an overlooked fruit when talking about which fruits help our health and cure certain conditions.
Health benefits to eating pineapple include:
- Reduces inflammation in joints
- Has cancer preventing properties
- Boosts the body’s immune system
- Effective at treating colds and coughs
- Protects against constipation and IBS
- Helps speed up the healing of cuts and wounds
Not bad for a nice, sweet tasting fruit. If you enjoy the fragrance of pineapple maybe you should start eating more!
Fragrance Oil vs Essential Oils
The difference between fragrance oil vs essential oil is often confusing at first. But they are very different. Essential oils are natural, while fragrance oils are synthetic. There are pros and cons to both and I will look into these in a little more detail.
Essential oils have healing properties and are often diffused and used for specific reasons. While fragrance oils are less expensive and are for more superficial purposes. But there are various reasons as to why people prefer one over the other.
Essential oils are used in aromatherapy and the natural ingredients are sourced from plants. It’s a much more time consuming and difficult process, and makes them more expensive. If you are after just the scent and the feeling a certain scent invokes, fragrance oil will suffice. If you want the deep and real healing properties, you must use essential oils.
Some people have allergic reactions to certain essential oils. This is another reason why a fragrance oil might be a better choice. There are various reasons for and against each as you can see, it’s worth trying both types if possible to decide for yourself.
Pineapple Fragrance Oil Benefits
As discussed in this article, fragrance oils do not have any direct health benefits. They do however have other benefits, and are still popular choices. The main benefits can be summarized as follows:
- You can have a scent not readily available in essential oil form
- You may be allergic to the natural herb or ingredient
- The scent is enough to stimulate the feelings you want
- You like the fragrance
- You live in a small or shared space and don’t want to diffuse the essential oil
Fragrance oils are designed to ‘mimic’ the scent of the real thing. You need to be fully aware of this, if this is what you want and you’re after the benefits as above then this product is for you.
Pineapple Oil Precautions
You should always be aware of any precautions when using either essential or fragrance oils. If you ever experience side-effects or adverse reactions, you should seek professional medical immediately.
As far as known precautions. Pregnant women, and women currently breast-feeding are advised not to use the oil. As well as anyone who have known sensitivity to other oils and similar products.
Always use oils responsibly and within the guidelines outlined on the bottles or packaging. Never ingest them unless explicitly told it is ok to do so.
Pineapple Aromatherapy Benefits and Blends
Aromatherapy involves using the plant oils to stimulate and promote physical and mental well-being. You don’t get the same effect with pineapple fragrance oil, but you can blend this fragrance with other oils.
Pineapple blends very well with coconut oils. This creates a fresh scent reminiscent of being on a beach on a nice sunny day. Diffusing this into your home can really help you de-stress and unwind.
You can also accent other citrus oils such as orange, lemon, lime etc. This makes for a powerful and fresh scent that has a very hygienic aroma. I like using a blend like this when cleaning the home to add to the overall sense of cleanliness.
As with all oils, have some fun blending them and seeing what works for you. When the right combination hits your senses you will know it, it’s a wonderful feeling.
